Cubs fans share hilarious schemes to get Kyle Schwarber cleared for OF duty
Cubs fans really, really want to see Kyle Schwarber standing in left field with his glove when Kyle Hendricks delivers the first pitch of Game 3 of the World Series on Friday night.
And that’s absolutely understandable after watching Schwarber go 3-for-7 with a double, two walks and two RBI in the first two games of the Fall Classic. Schwarber, of course, did all of that damage as a DH – a luxury that won’t be available to the Cubs in Games 3-5. The issue is whether doctors will clear Schwarber to play the field less than seven months after surgery to repair a torn ACL, and whether the Cubs are confident enough in his ability to patrol the outfield effectively.
