Cubs' Coghlan says Maddon fostered 'chill' culture to handle the heat

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon would probably ride a skateboard to work if he could. That kind of laid-back charm has permeated the Cubs' clubhouse, and is a significant reason why his young team is contending for a playoff spot.
Outfielder Chris Coghlan calls the Cubs' culture, "chill."
The outfielder spoke about how Maddon has fostered that environment throughout the season:
"It starts with Joe. Whoever the manager is, is going to establish the culture," Coghlan told reporters. "Now, we as clubhouse guys are older guys, what our job is, is to impact the younger guys and try to hold them accountable here and there. But the whole culture is chill and 'hey, everybody do your thing, all I care about is going out there and preparing each day and playing, that's what i care are about'. So that trickles down to us, the same thing, we're not worried about all this hoopla and all these little petty things, it's just about how can we put everybody in the best position to succeed, that's it, try to encourage each other and be there for each other as teammates and as family members for the entire year."
Sounds pretty cool.
