It's been no secret that the Cubs farm system was littered with prospects, but the only question was when were they going to unleash them.

Well, after finally calling up Kris Bryant last week, the Cubs wasted no time in bringing up another superstar as they promoted Addison Russell on Tuesday.

The Cubs could have played this several different ways, but calling up Russell proves the Cubs are committed to winning now, according to Cubs.com.

"It's kind of nice to see an organization have trust in in those players and see the same things that we see," veteran catcher David Ross told Cubs.com. "It's always that question when you're in an organization that has not had a lot of success recently. Are you really trying to win? Are you doing the things on a daily basis that is all about winning, not just about developing players? All I've seen here is full steam ahead. We're going to bring up the guys who are deserving to be Major League players and ready to be Major League players and put that product on the field and learn to win as we go."

Now Russell is still young and has learning to do - as evidenced by the fact that he went 0-for-5 in his debut, but the future is bright in Chicago and the future may not be that far away.
