Collins has grown 'numb' to Mets' misfortune with injuries

The New York Mets have been plagued by injuries to key players this season, which has manager Terry Collins all too accustomed to mixing and matching on his lineup card.
In addition to having to compensate for the absence of perennial All-Star third baseman David Wright for the duration of the season, the Mets have also been without second baseman David Murphy and catcher Travis d'Arnaud for significant stretches.
After being sidelined from the end of April to the beginning of June, d'Arnaud has been placed on the disabled list with an elbow injury he recently sustained in a play at the plate.
Murphy has been on the DL with a quad injury since June 5.
"We're numb to the whole situation," Collins said of the Mets' injuries, per CBS New York.
Despite the team's misfortune with health, Collins isn't using it as an excuse for its recent struggles, as the Mets are now on a six-game skid.
"It takes everybody on the team to win games," Collins said. "Don't care who's in the lineup or who plays."
