Brewers getting ready for July 31

While the Brewers are in the midst of a rough season on the field, there are plenty of people in the background working to make sure disappointing seasons like this are few and far between.
Ultimately it is up to the general manager to make moves and assemble the roster, but he can't do that without the help of Zack Minasian, the Brewers pro scouting director.
Since the Brewers are having a rough go of it in 2015, Minasian – along with the rest of the scouting department – is hard at work looking for players the organization may acquire at the July 31 Trade Deadline.
"Just talking to [the scouts] as a group, I told them it's OK to be mad; it's OK to be disappointed, but we can't lose our energy," Minasian told Brewers.com. "We have a responsibility to the organization to go out there and scout. Your focus changes, but it is an opportunity to have an impact. And I think for a scouting director and scouts, we love having an opportunity to have an impact."
Minasian often interacts with scouts from other teams and although he does not propse trade offers, he like to have a direct approach in telling teams what the Brewers may be able to offer.
"I don't have a problem going up to them and asking, 'What are you here for?'" Minasian said. "Doug [Melvin, Milwaukee's veteran GM] has a very good reputation for being straightforward and I try to do the same thing. We are straightforward with clubs about what we can and can't do.
"You don't want to play GM. That can cause problems. But I think exchanging thoughts from team to team is never a bad thing. In the end, the two general managers have to make a decision."
