Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Box Score, What A Play By Dansby Swanson!!

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Sorry Detroit Tigers, you ran into an extremely hot Atlanta Braves team and Aaron Blair who was pretty much pitching for a 2017 job in the bigs. We all know Blair has the stuff to be a major league pitcher, but at times this year, he either lost his confidence in that stuff or just couldn’t find it. He worked with pitching coach Roger McDowell and they may have found something. The 24-year-old gave up four hits, two runs, only one walk and had 10 strikeouts as he picked up his second win of the season. Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis both homered in this game and Dansby Swanson just continues to hit MLB pitching. Also, if you missed this play, take a look…wow..in the 8th inning, bases loaded…wow!

Braves damage Tigers’ playoff hopes with 5-3 win
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Got to love playing the spoiler game! Even though we’ve been eliminated from the 2016 playoffs weeks ago, everyone kept their heads up and continued to battle. What that did was pretty much eliminate the Miami Marlins, almost the New York Mets and now it’s killing the Detroit Tigers hopes. I love it! The Tigers and their fans were probably so excited about seeing the Atlanta Braves as their final series, but it’s not working out for them now. The Tigers have to win today, get some help, and then win their rain out game (only going to play if they need to) to have a playoff bid…I’m not seeing that happening. Julio Teheran will take care of any playoff dreams for the Tigers this afternoon!
Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis homered, rookie Aaron Blair had a career-high 10 strikeouts and the last-place Atlanta Braves damaged Detroit’s postseason hopes with a 5-3 victory Saturday night.
Trying to return to the postseason after missing out last year, Detroit dropped 1 1/2 games out of the second AL wild-card spot. The Tigers (86-74) need a win Sunday and a loss by Toronto or Baltimore to avoid elimination.
”All year long we’ve played well, had a few bad stretches, came back and fought through a lot of adversity,” catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia said. ”Guys are obviously tired this time of the season. We’re trying to find a way any way we can.”
Atlanta Braves to play final game at Turner Field
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Today will be a little strange…emotional, but happy at the same time. Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen so many great things at Turner Field — as well as some very horrible things. There will be a lot on TV this afternoon, but try to flip it over to the Braves pre-game as you’ll see alumni, some great ceremonial items and the final game ever at The Ted. You can tell your kids, grandkids, whomever, about this day and the field the Braves once took the field on.
The day has finally come: the Atlanta Braves will play their final game at Turner Field.
The Braves will take on the Detroit Tigers on Sunday with special with special pregame and post-game ceremonies.
Prior to kickoff, Braves alumni will take the field to celebrate the last two decades of players at Turner Field and throw a ceremonial first pitch. Following the game, there will be a ceremonial final pitch, the transfer of home plate to SunTrust Park and a presentation featuring Braves VIPs.
