Astros' Kemp and Appel named to Futures Game roster

On Sunday, July 12, many of the league's top young minor-league players will take part in the All-Star Futures Game at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati as part of MLB's All-Star Week festivities.
Two of the Astros' highly-touted youngsters, pitcher Mark Appel and infielder Tony Kemp, were named to the Futures Game roster on Thursday.
Appel's ascent through Houston's system took a step forward this week with a promotion to Triple-A Fresno, while Kemp was was promoted to Fresno himself a few weeks ago.
As Chandler Rome of MLB.com broke down, Kemp is hitting .357 since his promotion, while Appel dominated his last few outings with Double-A Corpus Christi before getting his call to Fresno.
Manager Rodney Linares, who currently helms the Corpus Christi Hooks, will also be at the Futures Game - but as the skipper of the World Team, which will oppose the U.S. squad.
