Angels: Jered Weaver talks about free agency, focused on the season.

Last night, Angels veteran pitcher Jered Weaver improved to 12-0 at home this season. He also answered some questions concerning his upcoming free agency.
The Angels have a mountain of questions to address in the near future. The upcoming offseason will provide drama and suspense for the fans and the media. Jered Weaver will be among the highlighted names.
Free agency is unfamiliar for Jered Weaver, who’s always played for the Angels since his inception into the majors. Weaver appears to be far from hanging up the cleats and retiring. However, the soon-to-be 34-year old will decide whether to resign with the Angels or sign elsewhere.
Weaver talked about his free agency last night following a 3-2 win against the Texas Rangers. Austin Laymance of mlb.com quoted Weaver as saying:
“I’ve never been in this position before, where not knowing what’s going to happen next year, It’s definitively a ball of confusion going on in my head. I just try to focus on going out there and pitching.”

This season, Weaver is flawless at home. His record overall is 12-11 with an ERA of 5.25. There was talk earlier this season of Weaver moving to a reduced role in the bullpen. That could be a likely place for Weaver next season.

There’s a lot to be said about loyalty. Weaver has shown that throughout his career. Although, the majors is far from the trades and deals that the NBA has. You enjoy seeing a player who’s a star play out his entire career for one time.
Weaver has been an Angel uniform for 11 years. The long and fruitful career of Weaver should be celebrated. It’s unlikely that Weaver retires following this season. Many believe he’ll take a reduced role with a slightly reduced contract.
Even though the Angels are far from a playoff position, they will have money to spend on pitching as well as fielding. Whether Weaver is a part of that or not remains to be seen. Either way, it’s been a wild ride for Weaver and the Angels.
