After 9 years, Braves reliever Ryan Kelly gets called up for first time
It's been a long road filled with plenty adversity, but Atlanta Braves reliever Ryan Kelly has finally been called up to The Show.
Kelly was promoted by the Braves for their game Sunday afternoon, marking the first time the 27-year-old righty has been called up in his nine-year career.
"It's such a surreal feeling," Kelly said. "Words can't describe the feelings that you have. I'm happy to be here, and hopefully I can continue the success I've had so far."
In nine seasons in the minors, Kelly holds a 20-22 record with a 3.99 ERA and 421 strikeouts in 462 2/3 innings.
Kelly says he's remained patient throughout the years while waiting to be called up.
"You can only go out and do what you do, and hope that something good happens," he said.
