It’s no surprise that after providing college football with one of the most exciting moments of the year that Georgia Tech’s Lance Austin was named the ACC Specialist of the Week.

Austin returned a blocked, last-second Florida State field goal attempt 78 yards to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 22-16 stunner over the then-ranked No. 9 Seminoles.

Austin’s teammate, defense back Jamal Golden, was named the conference’s defensive back of the week. Golden picked off an Everett Golson pass in the end zone to thwart an FSU scoring drive and led the Yellow Jackets with nine tackles.

Pitt, who topped Syracuse 23-20 on a 25-yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter, had three players honored this week,

Tyler Boyd was the ACC Receiver of the Week as he pulled in 12 passes for 93 yards and returned three kickoffs for 75 yards.

Junior Matt Galambos was named the top linebacker after he tallied five tackles and one interception for the Panthers. Galambos also caught a 12-yard pass on a key fake punt in the fourth quarter.

Rookie of the week went to Pitt’s freshman RB Qadree Ollison, who galloped for 103 yards and two touchdown against the Orange.

Duke quarterback Thomas Sirk was tabbed the top offensive back of the week. The junior scored the game-winning two-point conversion on a QB sneak to secure a 45-43 quadruple overtime win over Virginia Tech.

Sirk also completed 19 of his 39 pass attempts for 270 yards and a career-high four touchdowns.

For the third time this season UNC guard Landon Turner was named the offensive lineman of the week after he graded out a 95 percent in a win over Virginia.

Louisville’s Trevon Young had a career-high three sacks during the Cards 17-14 victory over BC and the defensive end was tabbed the top defensive lineman this week.
