William & Mary soars past Northeastern 81-67

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) Marcus Thornton scored 25 points for the Tribe, leading William & Mary past Northeastern 81-67 on Saturday.

Tim Rusthoven scored 12 points and Brandon Britt added 11 in the ''Senior Day'' victory for the Tribe.

William & Mary (17-10, 9-5 Colonial Athletic Association) led Northeastern (9-20, 6-9) 33-24 at halftime and the Tribe improved on their field goal percentage in the second period ending the game shooting 54 percent, including 10 of 23 from long range.

Northeastern trailed by eight points with just over 6 minutes to play before the Tribe exploded on another scoring spurt and led by as many as 18 down the stretch.

T.J. Williams led Huskies scorers with 16, and David Walker added 12 points.

William & Mary swept the series with Northeastern and remain solidly in third place in its conference.
