Waterman scores career-best 35; Manhattan edges Rider 76-73 (Jan 13, 2017)

RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) Zane Waterman scored a career-best 35 points and Manhattan edged Rider 76-73 on Friday night.

The Broncs led 67-65 before Waterman scored nine straight to give the Jaspers a 74-67 lead with 32 seconds remaining. Waterman made a 3-pointer, converted a 3-point play, and added 3 of 4 from the line during the stretch.

Kahlil Thomas made a 3-pointer, Manhattan had a turnover, and Jimmie Taylor added another 3-point shot to pull Rider to 74-73 with 18 seconds to go.

The Jaspers' Zavier Turner split a pair of free throws to make it 75-73. Thomas missed a jumper and Waterman added a free throw with 0.9 left.

Waterman was 10 of 17 from the field and 12 of 15 from the line. Turner added 23 points for Manhattan (7-11, 2-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

Thomas had a career-high 24 points and matched a career-best with 14 rebounds to lead Rider (11-6, 4-2). Taylor and Stevie Jordan finished with 16 points each.
