VCU runs away from Fordham 85-66 behind Reddic

NEW YORK (AP) Juvonte Reddic scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Virginia Commonwealth University pulled away in the second half to defeat Fordham 85-66.

VCU (21-7, 9-4 Atlantic 10) led 34-32 at halftime but broke the game open with an early 19-3 run. Rob Brandenberg played a big role in that. He scored 16 points, hitting all four of his 3-pointers, all in the second half. Melvin Johnson added 14 points.

Mandell Thomas and Jon Severe had 14 points apiece for Fordham (9-17, 2-11), which lost its fifth straight.

During the back-breaking run, Brandenberg, Johnson and JeQuan Lewis knocked down 3s.

Brandenberg's second 3 at 12:53 made it 60-40 and his fourth trey made it 73-48 with 8:37 to play.

VCU connected on 10 of 21 3s for 47.6 percent. They were just 19 of 48 inside the arc. They also built a 56-32 rebounding margin, 24 on the offensive end.
