Jordan Clarkson scored 23 points and Kodi Maduka scored all 17 of his points in the second half as Tulsa edged East Carolina 70-67 Saturday.

Maduka also had 10 rebounds, as he and Clarkson matched their season scoring highs.

The Golden Hurricane (9-9, 2-2 Conference USA) raced to a 22-4 advantage behind 11 points by Clarkson, who scored 19 by halftime.

After making two of their first 13 shots, the Pirates (9-7, 0-3) made eight of their next 10 and trailed 40-33 at halftime.

East Carolina continued to come back, led by Miguel Paul's 13 points, all In the second half. His 3-pointer made it 67-65, but Maduka's three-point play made it 70-65 with 44 seconds left.

With a chance to tie, the Pirates missed two 3-pointers in the final 24 seconds.

Darrius Morrow scored 18 points for East Carolina and Maurice Kemp had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
