North Carolina freshman David Wear is likely out for the rest of the season with an injured left hip.

Team spokesman Steve Kirschner said team medical staff had evaluated Wear for three straight days after he was hurt in practice last week. Wear landed awkwardly on teammate John Henson's foot while grabbing a rebound and had been hearing a clicking sound in the joint when he runs.

Coach Roy Williams said Wear was likely done for the season after the Tar Heels' 77-67 home loss to Florida State on Wednesday night.

He would be the second player to suffer a likely season-ending injury. Sophomore Ed Davis broke his left wrist against Duke earlier this month.
