NJIT edges Maryland-Eastern Shore 77-76

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) Damon Lynn scored 27 points, including a pair of free throws with 2 seconds left, as New Jersey Institute of Technology edged Maryland-Eastern Shore 77-76 on Wednesday.

UMES was down by 11 at halftime, and trailed by eight with 4:29 left after a tip-in by Odera Nweke. The Hawks stormed back to take a 76-75 lead with 5 seconds left on a Troy Snyder basket and free throw. But Louis Bell fouled Lynn with 2.3 seconds left and Lynn hit both free throws to earn the win for NJIT.

Independent NJIT (12-15) shot 50 percent from the floor, including 9 of 23 from beyond the arc. Terrence Smith added 13 points, while Ky Howard had seven points and 10 boards.

Maryland-Eastern Shore (4-20, 2-9 MEAC) was led by Snyder's 24 points and 14 rebounds. Devon Walker added 21 and Isaac Smith III chipped in with 11 points.
