Louisiana Tech dumps Charlotte 86-65

EL PASO, Texas (AP) Michale Kyser scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Alex Hamilton added 19 points as top-seeded Louisiana Tech rolled over No. 9 seed Charlotte 86-65 Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA tournament.

Louisiana Tech (26-6) will play No. 4 seed Southern Mississippi in the semifinal round Friday.

The Bulldogs led 36-26 at half, and scored 50 points after halftime to pull away from Charlotte (17-14).

The 49ers scored the first three points of the second half before the Bulldogs responded with a 13-2 run, and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Louisiana Tech shot 49.2 percent from the field, led by Kyser who was 9-of-11 shooting.

Cordarius Johnson added 14 points and Chris Anderson had 12 for the Bulldogs.

Terrence Williams and Pierria Henry both scored 13 to lead the 49ers. Denzel Ingram added 12 and Shawn Lester had 11.
