Justin Greene scored a game-high 23 points and teammate Randal Holt's late heroics helped Kent State edge Miami (Ohio) 71-67 Wednesday night in a tight Mid-American Conference game.

The Golden Flashes (11-4, 2-0), who were trailing 37-33 at halftime at home, outscored the Redhawks (4-10, 0-2) 38-30 in the second half. The last six of those Miami points proved decisive.

With 1:27 left to play, Holt scored two of his 16 points on a layup that tied it at 67. Greene's layup with 23 seconds remaining then gave Kent State the lead for good, 69-67. After a Redhawks turnover by Jon Harris with 10 seconds remaining, Holt was fouled. He made both free throws with 8 seconds left to clinch the victory.

Harris had scored all 12 of his points in the first half, hitting four 3-pointers. Drew McGhee led Miami with 16 points.
