Stevie Mejia converted a three-point play in the final seconds to lift Hofstra to a 71-69 win over James Madison on Saturday.

With James Madison leading 69-68, Mejia hit a layup and a foul shot with 6 seconds to play. Mejia finished with eight points. There were five ties, 11 lead changes and neither team led by more than eight points in the game.

Nathaniel Lester scored 23 points, David Imes added 14 and Mike Moore had 10 for the Pride (7-13, 1-7 Colonial Athletic Association), who snapped a six-game losing streak.

Hofstra, which avoided a sweep in the season series, shot 51.9 percent (27 of 52) from the field and outrebounded the Dukes 37-26.

James Madison, which committed only 10 turnovers, scored 23 points off 16 Hofstra miscues.

A.J. Davis scored 24 points, while Humpty Hitchens and Arman Marks each chipped in with 14 for the Dukes (9-10, 2-6).
