Shay Shine scored 16 points and Corey Law added 14 to help High Point rally, then hold off Winthrop 64-54 in Big South Conference play on Thursday night.
Law shot 5 of 8 from the field and grabbed eight boards while Shine hit 5 of 7 shots, including three 3-pointers.
Winthrop (6-11, 3-3) entered the second half with a 28-27 lead but High Point used a 23-13 run to take a 50-41 lead with 9:34 left to play. Shine capped the run with a 3-pointer.
Winthrop fought back to tie the game, 54-54, but High Point went on a 10-0 run, holding the Eagles scoreless over the final 5:23.
High Point (7-9, 3-3) shot 49 percent from the field (20 of 41) and 50 percent from 3-point range (8 of 16).
The Panthers outrebounded Winthrop 36-25 and registered six blocked shots.
Reggie Middleton led Winthrop with 15 points.
