Darryl Monroe scored 13 points and had nine rebounds to help George Mason beat Towson 71-59 on Saturday night. The Patriots (20-9, 13-5 Colonial Athletic Association) clinched the second seed in the conference tournament. George Mason overcame a slow start and used an early second half push to cap off its first undefeated season at Patriot Center, where they went 14-0 this season. Dre Smith also had 13 points, Cam Long had 11 and Louis Birdsong added 10 as the Patriots, the defending conference champions, shot 51 percent from the field and won for the fourth time in five games. Towson (10-21, 5-13) was led by Junior Hairston, who had 19 points and 12 rebounds.
