Eric Griffin scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half and came up with a key block late to help Campbell defeat Winthrop 54-51 on Tuesday night.

The Camels (12-8, 6-2 Big South Conference) trailed 47-41 with 6:40 remaining. Andrew Ryan then started a 13-4 rally with a 3-pointer from the right corner. Griffin's put-back tied it at 48 with 3:38 left and Campbell took the lead on Lorne Merthie's long 3 with 1:39 to go.

With Campbell up 53-51 with 43 seconds to go Griffin blocked Matt Morgan's 3-pointer.

Merthie finished with 14 points off the bench and Griffin added 11 rebounds.

Winthrop (7-12, 4-4) was led by Andre Jones with 17 points, all but one coming in the first half.

The Eagles shot just 29.8 percent (17 of 57) from the field, and made just one of their last 10 shots.
