Bivins, UMass Lowell upend Maine 84-72

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Antonio Bivins came off the bench to put in 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds in leading UMass-Lowell to an 84-72 win over Maine on Thursday night.

DJ Mlachnik added 19 points for the River Hawks, who shot 54 percent from the field.

Maine (5-22, 3-12 America East), who lost to the River Hawks earlier in the season, led 38-35 at the break, but UMass-Lowell (10-18, 8-8) broke-away early in the second period on a 9-2 run and posted a 44-40 lead following an Akeem Williams 3-pointer with 17:47 left.

Maine fell behind by as many as nine points before clawing back to a two-point deficit, 57-55, with 9:32 remaining in the game. UMass-Lowell responded by building a double-digit 75-65 lead going into the final minutes, which grew even larger by game end.

Till Gloger led Maine scorers with 20 points.
