Melvin Baker scored 12 points and Josh Terry 10 as Austin Peay defeated Jacksonville State 60-57 Saturday night in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

A jumper by Baker gave the Governors (5-13, 2-3) a 54-44 lead with 5 minutes remaining, but three Austin Peay turnovers in a span of 1:30 put the Gamecocks (6-14, 1-6) back into the game. They trailed 58-57 after Brian Williams' 3-pointer with 14 seconds left.

Two free throws by Jerome Clyburn pushed Austin Peay's lead back to three points, and Williams was unable to tie the game with a last-second shot.

Clyburn scored nine points and John Fraley had eight points and nine rebounds for the Governors, who shot 55.6 percent (10 of 18) in the second half to Jacksonville State's 33.3 percent (9 of 27).
