Anderson, Long Beach State beat St Peter's 68-56

Larry Anderson scored 21 points and T.J. Robinson 16 to lead Long Beach State to a 68-56 victory over Saint Peter's on Saturday in a consolation game at the Paradise Jam.

Anderson's 3-pointer with 1:08 left in the first half gave the 49ers (2-2) a 32-27 halftime lead.

The Peacocks (0-3) closed to within 53-51 with 3:38 remaining in the game on a 3-pointer by Nick Leon. Casper Ware answered with a layup for Long Beach State, sparking a 9-2 run that made it 62-53 with 1:00 left.

The 49ers had a big edge at the free-throw line that could have been greater if they had made better than 61 percent (25 of 41) of their attempts. Saint Peter's got to take just 12 free throws and made six.

Darius Conley scored 13 points and Steven Samuels 12 to lead the Peacocks.

Anderson, who made 6 of 7 shots, and Robinson also had 10 rebounds apiece for Long Beach State.
