Akoh, Montana beat Georgia State 81-74

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Jamar Akoh had 22 points and eight rebounds Friday night and had a key dunk with 38 seconds left to help Montana open its season with an 81-74 win over Georgia State.

Michael Oguine added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who extended their home winning streak to 16 games.

Akoh's dunk in the final minute made it 76-71 and Montana made 5 of 6 from the foul line to hold on for the win.

After a 33-all tie at halftime, the Panthers (1-1) opened the second half with a 9-2 run to take their largest lead at 42-35. Montana closed the deficit at 46-all and the teams went back-and-forth with five more ties before the Grizzlies took the lead for good at 60-58.

D'Marcus Simonds led Georgia State with 30 points and Kane Williams added 17.

Montana got to the free-throw line for 43 attempts and made 28. Georgia State made 12 of 24 at the foul line.
