Stockdale commits to Cottagers

The former Darlington shot-stopper, who has started one Premier

League game this season, is currently back-up to established number

one Mark Schwarzer. Stockdale is delighted to commit his long-term

future to the Craven Cottage outfit, stating it has given him great

confidence in his ability. The 24-year-old has settled in west

London, and is hoping to emulate the career of Australia

international Schwarzer. “It means the world to me,” Stockdale told

the club’s official website. “Thankfully the club has rewarded me.

“It was great to be here in the first place and I’m settled here

and have had the opportunity to show what I can do. “The keepers

here are great to learn from and there’s a wonderful rapport. If I

can do half of what Schwarzer and [Pascal] Zuberbuhler have done in
