Jonas: Focus on current players

The Argentine ace admits he has been surprised by the exodus of

big-name stars that have left St James’ Park – including the likes

of Andy Carroll, Joey Barton, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan. But the

28-year-old is looking at the positives and believes Alan Pardew’s

side, who are looking to make it eight matches unbeaten against

Blackburn, are a more settled side now. He told The Sun: “We don’t

care about the players who’ve left. They left for different

reasons. “We’re happy for them because we know how football works,

but we have to think of the players who have stayed. They are more

important.” Gutierrez also admitted he is happy with life at the

Toon and although he is out of contract at the end of next season,

the winger says he is very happy at the club. “All I can say is

that I’m happy here and just focusing on this season.” Although he

also confessed: “I always say you never close the door. “You can

never say never. An opportunity might come along that’s good for

you and good for the club.
