England picks Danny Welbeck to face Netherlands

England coach Fabio Capello has recalled Danny Welbeck for

Wednesday’s friendly against the Netherlands, picking the

Manchester United striker ahead of the more experienced Jermain

Defoe and Darren Bent.

The 20-year-old forward made his debut in March’s friendly

against Ghana and is one of four strikers picked to face the World

Cup runners-up at Wembley.

Welbeck features alongside Manchester United teammate Wayne

Rooney, Tottenham’s Peter Crouch and Liverpool forward Andy

Carroll.
