Redskins' Hall out 3-4 weeks with sprained toe

Published Sep. 25, 2015 5:50 p.m. ET

Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall is expected to miss at least three to four weeks with a sprained toe on his right foot.

Coach Jay Gruden said Friday that Hall would be seeing a foot specialist.

"We don't know if he needs surgery yet or not," Gruden said on a conference call with reporters.

Hall, who missed most of last season because of a torn left Achilles tendon, was hurt on the opening drive in the second half of Washington's 32-21 loss at the New York Giants on Thursday night.

Receiver DeSean Jackson, who hurt his left hamstring in a Week 1 loss to Miami, has "a chance to be back sooner than we think" and might be able to play in Washington's next game, on Oct. 4 against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles, Gruden said.

Other injuries from Thursday include left guard Shawn Lauvao's sprained left ankle, which was swollen and showed "strength loss," Gruden said.

The coach called Lauvao's injury "probably our biggest concern," adding: "He's got a chance to miss a little bit of time."

The player who came in to replace Lauvao against the Giants, Josh LeRibeus, strained his calf and his status was listed by Gruden as day to day. LeRibeus probably will miss practice Monday.

And yet another offensive lineman, starting right tackle Morgan Moses, had a mild MCL sprain in his right knee and a hyper-extended elbow during Thursday's game but went back on the field.

"Braced them both up and played," Gruden said. "He's a tough guy."

Defensive lineman Kedric Golston played with a cast after breaking a bone in his hand against New York.

"He's limited, but he'll be OK," Gruden said.

Middle linebacker Perry Riley Jr., who missed Thursday's game with a strained left calf, is making progress, "but it's hard to gauge when it's going to be full-go again," Gruden said.
