Nick Starkel - Shreds Southern Utah Starkel went 16 of 27 for 394 yards and four touchdowns against Southern Utah. He added one rushing touchdown. Impact Starkel took care of business against an FCS opponent, averaging 14.6 yards per attempt and registering a quarterback rating of 223.3. His lone blemish was an interception but was otherwise sharp. Starkel has the challenge of working with a revamped group of pass-catchers but he seems to have chemistry with Charles Ross, Derrick Deese, Sam Olson and Jermaine Braddock. San Jose State gets its first real test Sept. 4 against USC.
