Deshaun Buchanan - Dealing with foot injury Buchanan (foot) is currently dealing with a foot injury ahead of the 2026 season, per Sean Reider of the Albuquerque Journal.
Impact Buchanan is slated to miss most of the Lobos' fall camp due to his foot injury. Head coach Jason Eck noted how he doesn't know what is exactly wrong but is certain it's something with his foot. The running back has a solid window of time to recover before the season opener but was seen in a walking boot and on crutches during spring practices.

Deshaun Buchanan - Out for fall camp Buchanan (undisclosed) is most likely out for the majority of New Mexico's fall camp, according to Edge Garcia of The Daily Lobo.
Impact Buchanan was previously sidelined for New Mexico's spring game back in April and will now miss a majority of fall camp due to an undisclosed injury. The tailback didn't produce much on the ground for the Lobos last season and was looking for a bigger role in the offense this upcoming season.

Last season, he appeared in nine games, primarily serving as a dual-threat option, with 59 rushing attempts for 363 yards and one touchdown.

Impact Moga completed 3-of-5 passes for 58 yards last season as a redshirt freshman, also rushing for 49 yards on three carrires. Layne is still expected to be the starter when the season rolls around, but this extra experience with the starters could be valuable for his development.

Impact Layne reportedly suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow in Week 3 of the 2025 season against UCLA, but played through it the rest of the year (albeit not particularly well) and received surgery in the offseason. That's limited his involvement in spring camp, but the gunslinger, who still tossed for 2,486 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season on 65 percent completion, will have to wait until fall camp to get more involved in the Lobos' practices.

Impact Sibley spent his first two seasons at North Texas, and was a rotational part of the Mean Green backfield, logging 44 and 45 carries in his freshman and sophomore seasons, respectively. Last fall, he ran for 274 yards and five scores, and he'll now take his talents to the Lobos where he should become a factor in the backfield immediately.

Impact For only the fourth time in 2025, Johnson logged double-digit targets. During all but two of New Mexico's games this year, he recorded several receptions. In total, Johnson logged 59 catches (on 102 targets) for 754 yards and three touchdowns, all career-high tallies.
