Excels in bench roleShannon had a team-high 22 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 11-12 FT) to go along with six rebounds and three steals across 27 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 82-71 victory over Kansas...
ImpactShannon is the consensus highest-rated prospect on the Red Raiders and had started each of the previous 10 games he appeared in, but according to Phil Mayer of ABC, it was Shannon's idea to come off the bench Tuesday. The switch didn't affect his production in the slightest bit, as he scored a season-best 22 points on just nine attempts from the field. It was his ability to get to the line that set him apart here, as Shannon attempted double the free throws of any other game this year. Whether as a starter or reserve, Shannon will look to keep up this momentum in an up-tempo game against the Cyclones on Saturday.

Expected back at end of monthEzeagu (knee) is expected to return at the end of January, Kellis Robinett of the Wichita Eagle reports.
ImpactEzeagu hasn't played since Dec. 5 against UNLV after suffering a knee injury. He appears to be progressing in his rehab, as he's expected back at the end of the month. Davion Bradford has seen the bulk of Ezeagu's vacated minutes over the past month, averaging 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds over 23.0 minutes per game over the past eight contests. Carlton Linguard has also found an increased role during the same span, though it's small and shouldn't garner fantasy consideration.

Considering knee surgeryHead coach Bruce Weber said Tuesday that Murphy is contemplating knee surgery, Kellis Robinett of the Wichita Eagle reports.
ImpactMurphy didn't travel with the team for Tuesday's game against Texas Tech due to his knee injury. The extent of the injury is unknown, so it's unclear how much time Murphy could miss if he chooses surgery. Kansas State's frontcourt is still banged up, as Kaosi Ezeagu (knee) is out until the end of the month, and Antonio Gordon will remain out until Jan. 13 due to COVID-19 protocols. Meanwhile, Davion Bradford has filled in adequately, averaging 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds over 23.0 minutes per game since his role increased.

ImpactEdwards will make his first start in four games. Despite coming off the bench, the junior still played 36 minutes and had 18 points last time out. Jamarius Burton will now head back to the bench. Edwards is capable of forming a formidable backcourt duo with Mac McClung when right.
