Chiefs receivers keep their scoreless drought going

Alex Smith's three touchdown passes helped the Kansas City Chiefs to a 27-20 win Sunday's season opener against the Houston Texans.

None of the three went to a wide receiver. Tight end Travis Kelce scored the first two and running back Jamaal Charles snagged the other -- which means the receiving corps' scoreless drought goes on.

The last time a Chiefs wideout scored a touchdown? It was in Week 14 -- of the 2013 season. They made it through all of 2014 without throwing a TD pass to a wide receiver.

Kelce's early play made it tough for Smith to throw elsewhere, though.

He scored on a 10-yard grab early in the first quarter. Then, he crossed across the field uncovered, snagged an easy Smith throw, and rambled for 42 yards down the sideline for his second score.

Smith looked for receiver Jeremy Maclin on the team's next red-zone trip -- but the two couldn't connect in the end zone.

Charles scored when he motioned out into the slot. But he did so as a running back -- so the streak continues.
