Rockies get to Shipley early, set down D-backs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Charlie Blackmon hit a leadoff homer against Braden Shipley and added an RBI single as the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks 6-1 on Sunday at Salt River Fields.

The D-backs' Jeremy Hazelbaker, competing for an outfield spot, doubled in a run in the seventh inning to break up the shutout.

Shipley, a rotation candidate this spring, gave up three runs and three hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Nolan Arenado belted his first home run of the spring, and Chris Rusin tossed two shutout innings for Colorado.
