Pacers return Whittington to D-league

Shayne Whittington's latest cup of coffee with the Indiana Pacers got him in one more game, but now it's time to get back in action with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The Pacers assigned the 6-foot-11 forward/center to their affiliate in the NBA's Development League on Sunday.

Whittington, 24, has appeared in five Pacers games this season, scoring two baskets and grabbing three rebounds. He played four minutes Thursday against the Raptors, picking up a foul and missing his lone field-goal attempt.

The second-year player out of Western Michigan has played 34 games with the Mad Ants this season, averaging 12.1 points and 8.0 rebounds.
