Oklahoma CB Thomas will start Orange Bowl vs. Clemson

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:15 p.m. ET

Oklahoma cornerback Jordan Thomas, who spent a night in jail last week for not showing up in court, will start the Orange Bowl, coach Bob Stoops said Wednesday.

"Just a mix up," Stoops said. "Nothing else to talk about. It's pretty simple. That happens to everybody."

Thomas was booked into Grady County jail on Saturday. He was released Monday after paying a fine.

Thomas has 44 tackles this season and five interceptions. He has started 10 of OU's 11 games.

Meanwhile, Stoops also confirmed back-up cornerback Marcus Green is no longer with the team. Green Tweeted out he was going to transfer, but Stoops said Green was "removed from the team."

Back-up running back Daniel Brooks won't be with the team either. Stoops said Brooks had some academic issues. Back-up offensive lineman Alex Dalton tore his ACL in practice last week. He won't be with OU in Miami when the Sooners take on Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
