WATCH: Daniel Sedin shot inexplicably misses a wide-open net
Normally, the only people who miss the net on a goal-mouth, empty-net opportunity are contestants in a between-period contest or amateurs who have never held a hockey stick. But Daniel Sedin, a player who once scored 104 points in a single season, now knows the pain of those embarrassed contestants after he somehow missed on a shot on a wide-open net in the third period of Sunday's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
Brother Henrik set up the play perfectly for Daniel, drawing the goalie out of the net on the initial shot, and all Daniel needed to do was tap the puck in to make it a 2-1 game. Instead he chipped the shot over the net. It was nice form if he was trying to chip a golf ball out of a bunker, but alas this particular shot just left Daniel Sedin red-faced.
Even worse? The Canucks ended up losing the game by a 2-1 score in overtime. Whoops.
