GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Coyotes have signed defenseman Alex Goligoski to a five-year, $27.375 million contract.

The Coyotes acquired the negotiating rights for Goligoski in a trade with Dallas last week and announced his signing on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Goligoski was expected to be one of the top free agent defensemen on the market, but the Coyotes locked him up after a visit to Arizona last week.

Goligoski played 82 games for the Stars last season, finishing with five goals and 32 assists. He also had four goals and three assists in 13 playoff games.
