Bruins have tough decision on prospective free agent Brett Connolly
Brett Connolly did not get off to the best start in Boston; he broke his finger at his very first Bruins practice and missed the next few weeks of action. But did Brett Connolly do enough during his small sample of time with the Bruins to earn a new contract in Boston?
Bruins fan website Causeway Crowd addressed the Connolly question in a recent editorial about the Bruins free agents, and they said Connolly is a keeper.
"Brett Connolly proved in a short time that he could adapt to the Bruins style of play," Causeway Crowd wrote. "The Bruins essentially traded Connolly for Johnny Boychuk, so expectations were high. He was only able to play five games for the B’s, but he looked promising.
"With a new GM coming to town, the situation has changed. Peter Chiarelli would keep Connolly, no questions asked. The next general manager could decide that the Bruins part waves with the twenty-two year old forward."
Connolly is a young player who will turn 23 on May 2. He posted two points in five games with the Bruins this season, and while he never found a groove during his time with Tampa Bay, he still has a long future ahead of him.
