Boston Pride's Denna Laing suffered 'significant spinal injury' in Winter Classic fall

The ominous silence after Boston Pride hockey player Denna Laing fell and was injured in last week's Women's Classic at Gillette Stadium seemed a harbinger of bad news.

A statement was released on Friday detailing Laing's condition: "Boston Pride forward Denna Laing suffered a significant spinal injury during last Friday's Outdoor Women's Classic at Gillette Stadium. Doctors continue to evaluate her status."

Laing has been at Massachusetts General Hospital since the fall.
