At this point, we know the NFL is moving back to Los Angeles; the question is when.

According to New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, the move could be very close.

"This could come to a vote in a year," Tisch said at the league meetings, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Thomas also said that the NFL has made it “very clear” that three cities — Oakland, San Diego and St. Louis — better “get their proposals to their respective teams sooner rather than later.”

“Is it crunch time? Is it a two-minute warning yet? No,” Tisch said. “But, those three cities are kind of in the fourth quarter.”

The hard part for the NFL is balancing the desire to bring a team back to Los Angeles and giving these cities an opportunity to save their franchises. To this point, it seems that St. Louis has been the most adamant about keeping their team. But, at the same time, their owner, Stan Kroenke, is the one that has accelerated this whole process by buying up land for a stadium in L.A.

One theory that has come to light over the last few weeks is that the Rams and Chargers will end up in L.A., while the Raiders move on to St. Louis. This would give all three teams a new stadium, while also only forcing two cities to lose their franchises.

This story will continue to develop over the coming months, but these three organizations may have passed the point of no return.
