Kubiak shows Broncos rooks some Terrell Davis special teams highlights

Published May. 10, 2015 12:22 a.m. ET

Before Terrell Davis was Terrell Davis, he was a no-name special player who caught the eye of Denver coaches the way any rookie can -- through special teams.

What better example for Gary Kubiak to lean on in his first year as Denver's coach?

Per reports, Kubiak is showing his first-year players the Davis' first highlight, in which the soon-to-be NFL star levels a San Francisco 49er during a 1995 preseason game in Tokyo.

“The story of how he got noticed as a player,” Kubiak explained. “You are just trying to prove who you are and how you can take the thing from the meeting room to the practice field.”

The lesson for young players? Any one of them can use special teams as a springboard for an increased role on offense or defense.
