Josh Brown won't travel with Giants as NFL, team review his case

One day after reports surfaced that New York Giants kicker Josh Brown admitted to physically abusing his then-wife, the NFL is reopening its investigation into how best to handle Brown’s case, and the Giants are not taking him on their weekend trip to London to play the Rams.
The NFL was the first to weigh in Thursday:
Then the Giants issued this statement:
Josh Brown will not travel with the team to London.
In light of the news reports regarding the documents released by the State of Washington yesterday, we think it makes sense to review this newly disclosed information and to revisit this issue following our trip to London.
The Giants do not condone or excuse any form of domestic violence. Josh has acknowledged that he has issues in his life and has been working on these issues through therapy and counseling for a long period of time.
We remain supportive of Josh and his efforts.
Brown served a one-game suspension at the start of the season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, but the league determined at the time that it could not take further action when the King County (Wash.) Sheriff’s Office would not release evidence pertaining to Brown’s May 2015 arrest on a domestic violence charge.
The New York Daily News later reported that on the day of that arrest -- charges were later dropped -- that Brown’s ex-wife told police that he had been violent with her more than 20 times and that she had previously had a protection order against him.
But now the King County Sheriff’s Office has released the information the NFL was pursuing earlier, where Brown admits to physical and mental abuse of his ex-wife in both journal entries and sessions with a counselor.
It’s entirely possible he could face further punishment from his team or the league, but the only thing certain for now is that he will not play Sunday.
