Houston Texans morning huddle: Lions game on the mind

It has gotten so bad for quarterback Brock Osweiler and the Houston Texans that a fan recently started a GoFundMe page in the attempt to raise enough money to buy out Osweiler’s $72-million contract.

While playoff hopes are on the rise for the 4-3 Lions and MVP talk is forming for QB Matthew Stafford, frustration is mounting in Houston for the 4-3 Texans.

The Texans are (4-3) going into Sunday’s game with their bye week following right after.

“With this game coming up and then going into a bye, I mean a bye coming at a perfect time for us in the middle of the season,” defensive tackle Vince Wilfork said.

As the Houston Texans’ passing game has struggled this season, head coach Bill O’Brien has been leaning on Lamar Miller and the running game.

When the Texans signed Miller during the offseason, they were hoping he would take over a running backs group that was injured and inconsistent last season.

Texans all-purpose running back Jonathan Grimes made a speedy recovery from a cracked fibula suffered against the New England Patriots.

He hopes to return Sunday against the Detroit Lions. He’s listed as questionable on the injury report.

“That’s the plan,” Grimes said. “I feel good.”
