Ex-Dolphin Taylor to sign with Jets Wednesday

First, we had Donovan McNabb jumping to the Redskins. Now it appears we have Jason Taylor jumping to the Jets.

The veteran Pro Bowl defensive end has informed the Jets that he is agreeing to a deal with them and will fly to New York on Wednesday morning to sign with his long-time rival Jets, FOXSports.com has learned.

Sources said that the contract will be a 1-year deal, with a back-loaded second year added that that will more likely become irrelevant for the veteran Taylor.

Taylor was supposed to have a decision done last week before leaving the country on vacation, but instead made the choice quickly after returning to the States.

The six-time Pro Bowl pass rusher will turn 36 years old in September, but Taylor comes off a revival when he returned to his long-time Dolphins in 2009 and registered seven sacks.

Originally a third-round pick by Miami, Taylor recorded 10-plus sacks in six of his first 11 seasons before signing a prominent free-agent deal with the Redskins in 2008. There, Taylor struggled with just 3.5 sacks amidst whispers that his illustrious career was near the end.

With 127.5 career sacks, Taylor is the NFL's active leader and ranks 11th on the league's all-time list.
