Chris Polk absent from workouts, could be seeking trade
Add running back Chirs Polk to the list of 2014 Eagles contributors who were not present for the start of the team's voluntary offseason workouts on Monday. Polk has not signed his $1.54 million restricted free agent tender yet, and therefore he could not sign the injury waiver form needed to needed to participate.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer speculates that Polk could be angling for a trade out of Philadelphia. This offseason team signed running backs DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews, and Darren Sproles is also still on the roster. Although Polk took over as the short yardage and goal line back during the final stretch of the 2014 season, both Murray and Mathews have had success in this role with their past teams.
It remains unclear how Chip Kelly will approach the situation going forward, but it's difficult to envision Polk accepting his role as strictly a reserve running back.
