Will Tony Parker's new role in San Antonio's offense be a problem?
Tony Parker has long been San Antonio's most lethal scorer. He'd slither into the paint and finish at will, or pop around a screen and knock down an open 12 footer.
But things will be very different this season now that LaMarcus Aldridge is in the fold, and Kawhi Leonard is ready to blossom. Parker will no longer be the scorer he once was, but that's OK for the team. Is it OK for him?
Here's what he recently told the San Antonio Express-News:
This is what the Spurs do. They make sacrifices at an individual level for the good of the team. And, basically every single time, it works. There's no reason to believe this situation will be any different.
“The last four or five years it was my job to be aggressive and score, but this year is totally different. I have to be the engine in another way. I’m going to embrace it. I already talked with Pop and I’m going to love that role and I’m going to try and do the best I can to help LaMarcus and Kawhi have the best year.”
