Why did Houston's offense stall in Game 4?
Contrary to popular belief, the Houston Rockets did not have a very explosive offense this season, finishing with the 12th most efficient attack in the league, according to NBA.com.
But with a healthy Dwight Howard back in the mix, they've shined in the playoffs.
Then Game 4 happened. Despite scoring 109 points, Houston wasn't very efficient on its most important night of the season.
Here's ESPN's Calvin Watkins with more on the Rockets' struggle:
"McHale’s uptempo offense stalled in a critical stretch of the game. The Rockets missed 17 consecutive shots in between a James Harden 3-pointer at 1:55 of the second quarter to Corey Brewer’s layup with 3:57 left in the third quarter."
Offense was definitely a problem, but pinning the loss on it wouldn't do justice to how abysmal Houston performed on the other end. They had no answers for J.J. Barea in the pick-and-roll and didn't know when/how to double Dirk Nowitzki.
If they're going to win Game 5, both sides of the ball must improve in Houston.
