Wesley Matthews on free agency: 'I want the best place for me'

Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews is still recovering from a torn Achilles injury, but he will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. It's unclear whether the Blazers will re-sign Matthews, or whether Matthews will look to leave Portland to play elsewhere.

When faced with the question of whether he'd return to the Blazers, Matthews was rather non-committal. Here's what the 28-year-old guard told ESPN's Sports Nation, as transcribed by Sean Meagher of The Oregonian:

"My gut is, right now, the best place for me," Matthews said. "A lot of things can happen (when free agency opens on July 1) -- we got the draft and our team is full of free agents, so I want the best place for me."
